Luscombe Music, Elmhurst, ILStarted in 1975 by Fred and Lucretia Luscombe, both professional musicians and educators, Luscombe Music began as a small teaching studio. Over the years, it grew into a place to shop for print music, and rent and buy instruments. Our lesson studios have expanded to include preschool programs, group classes, teacher workshops and private lessons for students of all ages. The business remains in the Luscombe family and continues to focus on supporting music education and encouraging creativity through music.

Luscombe Music is a vendor to many public and private schools, as well as church music programs. We offer school delivery service and can provide estimates upon request. Luscombe Music is staffed by musicians and educators with first-hand knowledge about the products we sell.

Luscombe Music proudly supports the premier early childhood music program, Music Together®, which is held in our studios throughout the year.

The Music Together curriculum is research-based and includes a mix of original songs and traditional tunes. Each weekly class offers songs, rhythmic rhymes, finger plays, movement activities and instrumental play. By presenting a range of musical styles, Music Together provides children with a rich music experience that stimulates and supports their growing music skills.

All of the Music Together teachers are passionate about music and the development of children. They are professional musicians and performers with training in early childhood music education. The teachers create a fun, informal environment that engages the child and supports their musical development while nurturing creativity, self-expression and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions about Music Together:

  • How old must my child be in order to participate in Music Together?
Music Together accepts children from birth through kindergarten.
  • Do parents stay with their child?
Yes, parents and guardians are active participants in class and serve as role models to their child. Parent education is an important facet of the Music Together program.
  • How long are Music Together classes?
Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes. Fall, winter and spring sessions are 10 weeks; summer sessions are 6 weeks.
  • Are there materials that can be used at home?
Yes, take-home materials include 2 CDs, an illustrated songbook and a parent’s guide. Rhythm instruments similar to the ones used in class, as well as Music Together storybooks, are available for purchase at Luscombe Music.
  • If I sign up for another session, is it the same music?
No, there are nine song collections that rotate over a three-year period. They are non-sequential so families may join at any semester and attend classes for three years before cycling back. At that point, children will continue to benefit from re-experiencing the music at a higher level.
  • How do I sign up for class?
Online registration is easy. Visit the Music Together® of Oak Brook & Elmhurst website to see class offerings and register.
